Who we are
A pure herd that gladdens the heart
Mahubat is a herd of rare Sha'l camels owned by businessman Mishal bin Jadaan Al-Zayadi; his son Bandar bin Mishal leads its presence at public occasions. It is known as «the Sha'l herd of the Peninsula», and its audience calls it «Mahubat of Otaibah».
At the ninth King Abdulaziz Camel Festival its owner won the King's Sword for Sha'l camels, and received the honour at the closing ceremony held under the patronage of HRH the Crown Prince. At the tenth festival Mahubat set up a camp that was «one of the largest» of the festival; its individual «Sumu» took first place in the Sha'l jal class, and the herd came second in the Unifier's Bairaq for Sha'l camels.
In February 2026 it launched its official account on X, «a news, literary and cultural account that sheds light on the news of the herd and its owner, and presents literary and cultural pieces about camels».

The name and the colour
The Sha'l herd of the Peninsula
A name that joins the herd, the colour and the land: Sha'l camels, among the rarest of the Peninsula.
A «muniqiya» is a herd of camels chosen for their beauty and shown in the beauty contests. «Sha'l» is one of the colours the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival judges, beside the wadh, the sufr, the humr, the shuqh and the majaheem.
Mahubat's logo is a camel walking across the hatched map of Saudi Arabia, above the name. Its colours are taken from the desert's own words: Sha'l, night, coffee, camel wool, sand, ivory and brass.
